We stopped by an elementary school on our way out to some ruins. The kids came running out of their classrooms shouting “hello” and waving to us. Our driver told us that we were the first foreigners they had met. Some of the kids were buying food to eat from a little stand in the school yard. We also decided to try some of the cafeteria food. We had palm cake, and it was delicious. The children had been learning English in their school, and as we were leaving, they got enough courage to try out the phrases they have learned. They were very cute.
